A popular Irish hotel hit back after a one-star Tripadvisor review claimed people should “avoid the place”.
Flannery’s Hotel in Co Galway is a well known property that has a four star rating on the accommodation review site.
However, a guest recently left a blunt comment after the group he was with lost their security deposits.
The individual was part of a party of 23 staying at the hotel for a bachelor party.
They wrote: “I booked for a deer and the management took 50 euros per person for 23 people. The nerve to say did you think this was a government savings program or something from the like and did you actually think you were going to get your money back.
“Each of us paid cash so it’s a $ 1,150 tax-free theft just to top it off. Avoid the place.”
A manager at Flannery’s had none of that and hit back at the Tripadvisor review.
They wrote: “In response to the review, management had no choice but to keep your group’s security deposit due to the fact that we have many noise complaints to deal with as a result of the actions of your group while staying with us.
“I would like to note that the management spoke to you on several occasions during your stay with us and informed you that while your demeanor and disrespect towards our other hotel guests and staff did not improve , you would not be refunded your security deposit.
“We are a family run hotel and we do not tolerate unruly behavior and the security deposit is used by us as a preventive measure, but on this occasion we had no choice but to keep the deposits so that we could reimburse our other guests who have been affected by the unruly behavior of your party throughout your recent stay. “
